Creating A Brighter Future
About Thornborough Pre-School
Committed to Education and Learning Through Play
Thornborough is a village and also a civil parish within Aylesbury Vale district in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located about two miles east of Buckingham.
We are a small setting located in the heart of Thornborough village and operate from the cricket pavilion within the grounds of Sir Henry Moore playing field. We accept children from 18 months - 4 years of age and offer a safe, happy and stimulating environment for all.
The importance of play
When we talk about play, people naturally think about young children, however all children and young people should have the opportunity to play every day.
Play is important for the early stages of brain development and playing with your child can help build relationships for later life. But no matter what age we are, play helps to develop important skills for learning, life and work. By using an indoor and outdoor environment we provide a nurturing environment where children learn through play.
Thornborough Infant School
Welcome to the Autumn Term....Over the academic year, our pre-school and the infant school join forces for activity days. This makes the transition to ‘big’ school easier as the children are already well accustomed to the site and their wonderful staff.
Covid 19 and keeping our children safe
We have come a long way and the vaccine rollout is doing an amazing job. But sadly COVID-19 is very much still around and we want to ensure we are strictly following the forever changing guidelines at all times, with extra cleaning and personal care. Keeping the staff and children safe is our top priority. Please contact us for more info the procedures we have in place at our Pre-School.
Pre-School has had a make over!!
A big thank you to Sophie our Treasurer and from October our future Chair for planning and doing most of the make over on our Pre-School. This has included painting the inside of the pavilion, treating and painting our fences and porch, painting a mural on the inside of our front porch and refurbed our play area. We want to say a special thank you to a few volunteers who managed to help us as well.
A big thank you to Woody and Alice
A massive thank you to Woody and Alice from Local Landscapes for re-levelling part of our play area and putting fresh grass seed down. Please click the link below to their website for your gardening needs.
Our daughter spent 2 years at the preschool and loved it. Now she is at school and her younger brother has just started at preschool as well.
My daughter loves it there, she is always so happy to go and the staff has been really supportive with her potty training. She has gained confidence and made some good friends. I would highly recommend the pre school, it's a small setting in a beautiful location.
My son had a wonderful time at Thornborough preschool. They are a loving, compassionate setting that encourages children to develop each childs interests as well as introducing them to many different creative ways of learning. As a small setting it enables each child to have plenty one-to-one attention. My son loved going there and they helped make his move to school seamless. They prepared him with the skills to be able to go into school as if there was no change which has been fantastic.
Both of my children have attended Thornborough pre-school and both thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Pre-school was a great foundation before starting school. I could have not been happier.
My daughter attended Thornborough Pre-school and from the moment she started, she loved it. The practitioners were so generally warm and loving to her it was no surprise that she didn’t want to attend any other setting. She formed lovely friendships and thrived in the nurturing learning environment. The close links with the village school also meant that her transition to school this year was seamless. We feel very lucky indeed to have had the opportunity to send Harriet to this lovely pre-school.
My son enjoyed his time at Thornborough Pre School from the first day he started. He fitted in so well and was made to feel very welcome. He developed so much during his year at pre school and learnt a lot. He got involved with arts, reading, baking, learning to ride a bike and learning through playing. He made so many fantastic friends, most of which he is now at school with. I really recommend this setting and am looking forward to my daughter starting when she is old enough.
Thornborough preschool is such a special place. It felt like an extension of our family. It‘s warm, caring and nurturing environment ensured our daughter used to look forward to going every morning. We are so lucky to have this amazing preschool in our village.
My Son absolutely loved going here. With his special needs as well the staff were amazing and adapted things to help him, which made his transition to ‘big school’ very easy. With my daughter now attending here, she loves it and can’t wait to get there every weekday. She even wants to go at weekends! The staff are amazing and hard working and have a lovely relationship with all the children. It’s like one big family. Thank you again!
Both my sons went to preschool and I couldn't have asked for a better start for them. The staff have been amazing, providing just the right amount of encouragement and praise. Their confidence has thrived as a result. Thank you.
Thornborough Pre-School is an exceptionally special place where two of my children have been welcomed by the wonderful, caring, friendly and professional team.
They all go above and beyond delivering expert care, is so aware of each child’s individual personality and cares deeply about their wellbeing and the Pre-School is super organised!!
I never worried about my child while at Thornborough Pre-School and I know whatever my child needs, physically or emotionally they were all met and superseded.
I could not recommend this setting more, it is just wonderful.
My daughter was with Thornborough pre school for around 18 months once we moved to the village. She settled in very quickly and had a great relationship with the team ( her peers ) and has made some very solid friendships with the other children. My daughter really enjoyed pre school and was always asking about when her next day was. In my opinion this small but intimate setting is a great start for any child and the children really are focused on, I felt with the other settings my daughter attended there was too many children and they was left alot to their own devices. Thornborough Pre School is a happy place to be and the children are constantly learning new skills without even realising they are being taught as Heidi and her team are constantly making tasks fun and exciting . In my opinion there is no other place I would rather send my child and I look forward for my son joining them in 2021.
Thornborough Pre-school was a lovely start to Sophie’s journey, she has made some lovely friends here and loved every moment with her little pre-school family. She has made so many lovely memories that will stay with her forever and had so much fun with all her friends along the way. The staff are all very lovely and welcoming. They make the children feel at home, a little safe space to learn and grow. From one very happy mummy.
